Every deal You should first of all check that you have not mistakenly ticked the option "stop card", c.f. Hardware settings, if you get the "counter is out of range" message on every deal.
Not every time The root to the problem usually is: i. A gate ii. The cards if you frequently get an incorrect number of cards in the slots.
You should suspect that the card sensors need to be cleaned if the card count on the screen does not reflect the situation in the board. c.f. the service instruction.
Gate Check that a gate (the steel thread) has not left its rest position (a small hole in the front panel) if you all of a sudden get an incorrect number of cards. This can happen after a card jam if you are not careful when you clear the card path.
The cards Your prime suspect should be the cards if you get Counter out of range messages after a drastic change in humidity/temperature. The cards need to be reasonably flat, or slightly concave, i.e. the way players tend to bend them.
